How much percentage is required to get a seat in Nizam College?

Nizam College offers Undergraduate programs on the Nizam College DOST portal, and seat allotment is based on class 12 scores. For postgraduate programs, scores in the TS CPGET, TS ICET, and graduation scores are considered. This guide focuses on eligibility and cutoffs for 2025 admissions and also the Nizam University admission process.

Nizam College Under-Graduation Admission

  • No entrance examination is needed for UG students in Nizam College, and admission is based on class 12 marks.

  • Students must pass Class 12 (TSBIE, CBSE, or equivalent); for B.Sc., one of the subjects must be  Biology, Chemistry, and either Maths or Physics (or both).

  • As there is no fixed cutoff, recent trends in 2024 showed that students from the general category need 60-80% (B.Sc. Biotechnology: 75%, B.Com. Computers: 70%, BA: 55-65%, B.Sc. B.Ed. 65% ). Reserved categories (SC/ST/BC/EWS) get seats at 50-65% which is a 5-10% relaxation. Undergraduate fees are between ?5,000-?15,000/year.

Admission After Graduation

  • To apply for PG courses, graduates should have a bachelor's degree with 40-50% marks (for SC, ST, and BC it’s 35-45%).  PG seats also require certain scores.

  • For an M.A., M.Sc., or M.Com, you need a TS CPGET score, and for an MBA, a  TS ICET score (for 2024, the cutoff rank for M.Sc. is 500-800, 701 for MBA, and 1,359 for MCA). ICET requires 50% in graduation. PG seats are 40-50% filled from merit, while the PG fee is in the range of ?20,000-?60,000/year.

Entrance Exam Criteria

  • Merit-based admissions for UG and PG programs do not require an entrance exam, but you need to sit for entrance exams if you're applying for TS CPGET (M.A., M.Sc., M.Com.) or TS ICET (MBA, MCA).

  • To be eligible for the TS CPGET in July 2025 (cpget.tsche.ac.in) or the TS ICET in May 2025 (icet.tsche.ac.in), you should aim for a rank under 1,000 to be competitive for PG.

Admission Process

  • For undergraduate courses, you have to register first, which is available from dost.cgg.gov.in (May 2025, ?200 fee). You must provide your 12 marks, choose Nizam courses, and wait for 3-5 phase allotments, which will take place in June and July.

  • To apply for PG, you need to apply for TS CPGET (?1,200 fee) or TS ICET (?650), take the exam, register for counseling, which is in August-September, choose web options, and report with a suite of documents (Class 12/degree marksheets, caste/ community certificate, and proof of migration).
