Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi

Jawaharlal Nehru University is India's leading university and a world-renowned teaching and research center.

  •          Ranked #1 in India by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a rating point of 3.91
  •          JNU was ranked #3 among all Indian universities by the framework. of India, in 2016 and No. 2 in 2017.
  •          JNU was also awarded Best University by the President of India in 2017

JNU was the first to offer foreign language courses as part of an integrated five-year master's program. At the master's level, where most schools begin their academic program, training is largely oriented towards individual disciplines, but at the research, disciplinary boundaries become more permeable. Work in overlapping or bordering fields - for example, environmental studies and literature, economics and science, sociology and aesthetics, or linguistics and biology - is not uncommon among JNU doctoral students.

Not only are academic researchers encouraged to break through the invisible walls around disciplines, but the relationship between academia and the outside world also remains negotiable, often resulting in mutually beneficial collaboration in areas that form a crossroads for the development of an understanding of society, culture, and science.

Several academic centers in the university have been declared by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as "Centres of Excellence". These are the Center for Historical Studies, the Center for Social Systems Studies, the Center for Political Studies, the Center for Economic Studies and Planning, the Center for Regional Development Studies, and the Zakir Husain Center of pedagogical studies, all located in the Faculty of Social Sciences. In addition, three science faculties (Faculty of Physical Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences, and Faculty of Environmental Sciences) have also received UGC recognition as Centers of Excellence.

The Center for English Studies, School of Linguistic, Literary, and Cultural Studies has also been identified for departmental research support under the UGC Special Assistance Program. JNU itself has been awarded “University of Excellence” status by UGC.
