The School of open learning, popularly known as DU SOL or SOL DU, is an integral part of the esteemed University of Delhi. It was started in 1962 to give a chance to study without attending a regular college. Many students who work or live far away from the city choose DU SOL because of its flexibility. The goal of the DU is to make education accessible for everyone. 

The university offers many undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Management. These courses follow the same syllabus as regular college courses under the University of Delhi. 

Students who study through the DU SOL get the same degree as those in regular DU colleges which is accepted across India. Over the years, DU SOL has grown a lot and now uses online tools, digital study materials and recorded lectures to assist students learn better.

Courses at DU SOL

Postgraduate programs such as MA and MCOM have slightly higher fees, around INR 5,000 to INR 7,500 per year. 

Students are required to pay a one-time registration fee during admission and may be charged separately for study materials. Moreover, students can make payments online through the official SOL portal. 

Admission Process in DU SOL 2025 

DU SOL admission process for the academic year 2025 -26 has officially opened, and the online application portal went live in early June 2025. The process starts with the release of the official notification on the DU SOL website where students can find detailed information.

The university doesn't hold entrance exams for most programs instead, admissions are based on merit which is determined by the scores from qualifying exams. Once the application is in, students can track their admission status right through the portal. 

When they receive approval DU SOL sends a confirmation along with the login info for their student dashboard. This is the moment admitted students can start exploring their study materials, timetables and other academic resources online.

Companies like Axis Bank, Amazon and the Dalmia Group have been involved in these drives by offering positions in sales and business development.

It's important to note that DU SOL students aren't eligible for the Central Placement Cell (CPC) at Delhi University which is meant for regular, full-time students only. Nevertheless, DU SOL has its own placement cell that offers final-year and fifth-semester students valuable job opportunities and guidance including assistance with interview preparation.
