IGNOU Extends Jan 2026 Admission and Re-Registration Dates: Official Update

IGNOU is giving a call to the candidates to check if they have a computer/laptop along with internet facility and are actually pretty comfortable with the online learning before enrolling in the online programmes.

After the third extension, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has again decided to extend the last day for the submission of the application form for January 2026 fresh admission and re, registration. 

Those who have not registered yet for the January 2026 fresh academic session or want to re-register in the online distance learning (ODL). The online programmes can register themselves for the programmes by February 15th.

The Open University has extended the application deadline only for those online distance learning and online mode programmes for which the certificate and semester, based programmes are excluded. 

A complete list of programmes that are offered online is given on the official website iop.ignouonline.ac.in. Students are advised to check the programmes and apply accordingly.

IGNOU is advising students to have a computer or a laptop with internet connection and also to be comfortable with online learning to be able to enroll in the online programmes. Physical study materials are not provided for the online courses. For courses, candidates can choose the ODL mode apart from online ones. How to complete the IGNOU new admissions form for 2026

Step 1: At first, students must go to the official website of IGNOU ignou.ac.in

Step 2: Navigate to the Register Online tab and click on it followed by Fresh Admissions

Step 3: Hit the New Registrations tab

Step 4: Enter all the registration details asked for

Step 5: Choose a Username and Password

Step 6: Provide all the necessary details and submit

Step 7: Use the login details sent to your email ID and phone number, login with the same and fill up any information needed

Step 8: Choose the course you want to study

Step 9: Submit the IGNOU registration form

Yes. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the re-registration deadline for the January 2026 academic session (including both ODL and online programmes) to 15 February 2026. This is the latest extension from the original January 31 deadline and gives students more time to complete formalities.
