As one of the best-deemed universities according to NIRF, Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune, offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various disciplines. Admission is mostly entrance-based with exams such as SNAP (MBA), SET (UG), and JEE Main/SITEEE ( B. Tech). Each year, the university is estimated to receive more than 2 lakh applications, of which a small number of seats are filled through the management quota or direct admission (approximately 5-10%). They require the applicants to fulfil the eligibility requirements, which are usually 50% marks (45% reserved), and pass merit, interview, and counselling tests. The Symbiosis Pune Admission is competitive, data-focused, and merit-based, which guarantees academic quality and transparency in the 2025 26 session.
Symbiosis Pune is not an easy admission. Entry barriers are increased by the quality of the applicants, the national-level entry exams and the reputation of the institute. The level of the program is as follows:
MBA (through SNAP): It is very competitive- only the best scorers in SNAP are admitted.
Undergraduate (through SET): SET, academic background and interview performance are all relevant in the selection.
Engineering/B.Tech: Students need to pass JEE Main or other similar exams, and in some cases, SIT-EEE (Symbiosis Integrated Entrance Exam) to get direct admissions.
Therefore, admissions are dependent on the performance of candidates taking the entrance tests, academic record, and the interview/selection process.
Yes — Symbiosis Pune accepts direct admission via management quota for certain courses, but under tight constraints:
For the MBA, about 5% of total seats may be filled via the management quota. Applicants submit a separate application to the institution’s management.
For Engineering/B. Tech, direct admission through management quota is also offered in some colleges under SIU, sometimes requiring SIT-EEE scores or a minimum of 10+2 marks.
Eligibility often demands a minimum percentage in graduation or 10+2, no backlog, and meeting discipline-specific requirements.
However, direct admission without meeting basic eligibility or exam criteria is rare.
While the standard route is through SNAP, SET, or JEE, a few pathways enable admission without the exam:
Management Quota / Direct Admission: If the candidate meets thresholds (e.g. 50% or higher in a previous degree or 10+2), they may apply directly to management quota seats, bypassing the entrance exam.
Non-SET / Rolling Admissions (in some programs): Some niche or newer courses might allow Non-SET or rolling admission processes where SET is not mandatory — especially in liberal arts or specialised programs.
Undergraduate merit-based admission: In certain undergraduate programs, merit in 10+2 or qualifying academic performance may suffice when demand is low or when seats remain unsold post SET rounds.
Still, these are exceptions and not the rule across Symbiosis Pune’s core programs.
Symbiosis Pune admissions are also more or less entrance-based based with the option of direct admission being minimal. The general flow is:
Online Application: Applicants complete application forms through the official portal of Symbiosis, including personal/academic information.
Entrance Exam: Eligible applicants are hired through SNAP (MBA), SET (UG), JEE Main / SIT-EEE (Engineering) according to the program.
Shortlisting: Shortlisting is done based on the exam scores, academic history, and eligibility.
Selection Rounds: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a Group Discussion ( GD ), Personal Interview ( PI ) or any other form of evaluation as decided by the particular program.
Merit List /Offer: The institute provides merit lists; successful applicants are offered admission.
Fee Payment and Confirmation: The applicants are supposed to accept the offer by paying fees and doing formalities.
Management Quota / Direct Route (when applicable): Management quota. The eligible candidates have the option of applying under a parallel track separately to obtain the management quota seats.
Therefore, the standard path is by the entrance + selection sequence, but parallel paths are made without exception and with strict controls.
