The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) is yet to announce the fresh exam date for the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (Maha TET 2026) [10783795/]. More than six lakh teaching aspirants remain in limbo two weeks after the prestigious state-level test was cancelled due to a massive paper leak scandal.
The Maha TET 2026 exam, originally scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2026, was postponed just 24 hours before the commencement after a Thane Police raid exposed a widespread cheating racket.
Authenticated updates, revised admit cards, and the final schedule will be published exclusively through the Official MSCE Pune Portal.
The delay in scheduling the fresh test stems from an ongoing interstate criminal probe and a planned systemic overhaul of the state's examination process:
Interstate Paper Leak Racket: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the Thane Police uncovered a sophisticated network operating across West Bengal, Bihar, Delhi, and Haryana. Raids in Bhiwandi led to multiple arrests after suspects were caught with physical copies matching the actual test questions.
Transition to Computer-Based Test: To prevent future data leaks, Maharashtra School Education Minister Dada Bhuse announced a complete structural overhaul. A state committee led by Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal is currently evaluating a transition to a secure online, computer-based exam format for future cycles.
The cancellation has triggered severe anxiety among serving, uncertified educators in Maharashtra. Per a Supreme Court mandate, active teachers have a strict deadline until August 2028 to clear the mandatory eligibility test.
Failure to pass the Maha TET within this timeframe will result in compulsory retirement. Because the MSCE conducts limited exam cycles each year, this postponement burns a vital opportunity for teachers fighting to secure their jobs.
