In a major push towards women’s empowerment and higher education, the Bihar government has officially rolled out the 'Mukhyamantri Balika PhD Fellowship Scheme'. Under this ambitious initiative, around 1,000 meritorious female research scholars across the state will receive a monthly financial stipend of ?10,000 for a maximum duration of 4 years.
The scheme aims to reduce dropout rates among female students in higher education and provide them with financial independence to pursue high-quality research without economic constraints.

Alongside the PhD fellowship, the state government has announced three other major initiatives to support women in business and security:
Bihar ki Beti Startup Challenge: To encourage women entrepreneurs, financial assistance ranging from INR 50,000 to INR 2 Lakhs will be provided to women starting their own business ventures.
'Police Didi' (Abhaya Brigade) Initiative: To ensure the safety of girls commuting to schools and colleges, 4,700 two-wheelers have been allocated to the 'Police Didi' wing for active patrolling near educational institutions.
Expanded Incentive Schemes: The government is also expanding the scope of cash incentives for female candidates qualifying for various competitive exams.
