India Post has published a vacancy announcement for 28740 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) positions for the 2026 recruitment cycle. The official portal to apply for the India Post Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) 2026 recruitment is the indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
The hiring process will select candidates for three positions, which include Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak. The selection process will take place across 23 different postal circles.
The applications are open from January 31, 2026, and will close on February 14 February 2026. The fee can be submitted til 16 February 2026.
Candidates must meet the required educational qualifications, age limits, and basic skill requirements to be eligible for the program. Reserve categories' age relaxation will be applicable as per government norms.
Education: Passed Class 10 (Matriculation) with Mathematics and English as compulsory or elective subjects, and studied the local language up to Class 10.
Age Limit: 18 to 40 years as of 01 January 2026 (age relaxation applicable for reserved categories).
Other Requirements: Basic computer knowledge, ability to ride a bicycle, and adequate means of livelihood.
The selection process is purely merit-based and depends on Class 10 marks, with no written examination.
Selected candidates receive a monthly salary ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs. 29,380 for BPM posts and Rs. 10,000 to Rs.24,470 for ABPM/GDS posts.

Upload the required photograph and signature.
