The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has cancelled the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class 10 and Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class 12 board exams that were scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates. The Council made this decision in light of the current security situation in the Middle East.
Dr Joseph Emmanuel, CISCE chief executive and secretary, stated that the results of students whose examinations have been cancelled will be announced alongside those of students in India. He stated that the evaluation will be conducted using an alternative assessment process and that the specific method will be announced later.
Meanwhile, the UAE also declared an early spring break from March 9-22 for schools and universities.
The CISCE has further stated that an alternative assessment process may include theory, practical and internal exams taken at the schools and students/ schools will be informed of the mode at the right time.
Dr Emmanuel stated that students who are dissatisfied with the grades they have received through this system will be able to improve their grades if the situation allows.
CISCE had previously postponed several ICSE and ISC 2026 exams. Following a reassessment of the situation, the board has cancelled the postponed papers as well as the remaining papers scheduled for March 16 to April 6 in UAE centres.
Authorities said they decided to cancel the papers after assessing the local situation and holding talks with KHDA and the Consulate General of India in Dubai. The board said they decided the students, invigilators, and all others are not safe at the moment.
