Is IEM Kolkata a Government or Private Institution?

IEM Kolkata is a private, self-financed engineering institute in West Bengal. It is not a government institution. It was established in 1989 (it is one of the oldest institutes) and is a part of the IEM-UEM Group. It is affiliated with the University of Engineering & Management, Kolkata. The institute is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and is approved by AICTE. Its department of Management is tier 1 NBA accredited.  It has a Study Abroad Programme (SAP) for international experience and collaboration with foreign corporations. 

The Institute of Engineering and Management has B.Tech and MBA as the flagship courses. Some of the courses available in the IEM College are AICTE-approved, while some of the branches are accredited by the NBA.
