The National Testing Agency (NTA) will re-conduct the UGC NET June 2026 examination for three subjects on September 9 and 10, 2026, the Central Government informed the Delhi High Court.
The decision follows a review by a high-level committee, which reportedly found factual errors, typographical mistakes and extensive repetition of questions from previous examinations in the original June 2026 question papers.
The government made the submission through Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. Following the submission, Justice Jasmeet Singh disposed of a petition filed by a UGC-NET candidate seeking an independent investigation and a stay on the declaration of results over alleged paper leaks. Access the policy updates directly via the Delhi Education Department Public Circulars Page.
The re-examination will be held only for candidates who appeared for the three affected subjects during the June 2026 examination cycle.
The exams will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

No Fresh Registration Required: Candidates who had already appeared for the affected subjects in the June 2026 examination do not need to submit a fresh application form for the re-examination.
No Additional Examination Fee: The NTA will conduct the re-examination without charging an additional examination fee to the affected candidates.
Other UGC NET Subjects Unaffected: The results for the remaining 84 subjects were declared on August 16, 2026. Their evaluation, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) allocations and certificates will remain unaffected by the re-examination.
The NTA will separately announce the revised exam city details and admit cards for candidates appearing in the re-examination.
Candidates should regularly check the official UGC NET NTA website for updates regarding the exam centre, admit card and examination instructions.
The re-examination follows findings from a high-level committee that reviewed the June 2026 question papers. The review reportedly identified factual inaccuracies, typographical errors and significant repetition of questions from earlier examinations.
The re-test has therefore been limited to English, Commerce and Sociology, the three subjects identified for re-examination.
Candidates appearing for the re-examination should:
Continue preparing according to the official UGC NET syllabus.
Practise previous-year questions while avoiding reliance on repeated questions alone.
Check the NTA website regularly for the admit card.
Verify the exam city and centre details once released.
Follow the revised examination instructions issued by NTA.
Candidates do not need to submit a new application or pay another examination fee for the UGC NET June 2026 re-examination.
