In a major relief for thousands of primary teacher aspirants, the Uttar Pradesh Examination Regulatory Authority (PNP), Prayagraj, has agreed to conduct a 'Special Back Paper Examination' for 81,874 trainees who failed the D.El.Ed (formerly BTC) fourth-semester exams.
The official schedule, date sheet, and online registration dates for the special back paper will soon be uploaded to the official portals at BTC Exam Portal and UP DElEd Official Website.
The decision follows intense pressure from students after more than 50% of the trainees failed the recently declared fourth-semester results. With speculations rising over a massive primary teacher recruitment drive coming to Uttar Pradesh after a gap of nearly eight years, failing this semester meant these 81,000+ candidates would be completely locked out of the upcoming vacancy race.
Sensing a threat to their careers, desperate D.El.Ed trainees gathered in large numbers to stage a massive protest outside the PNP headquarters in Prayagraj. The students demanded a special or "Holi-special" back paper opportunity to clear their backlogs before the official teacher recruitment notification is released. Yielding to the students' demands and keeping their future prospects in mind, the administration officially greenlit the special examination.
Crucial Rules for the Special Back Paper Exam:
Failed in 1 or 2 Subjects: Trainees who failed in up to two subjects only need to reappear for those specific papers.
Failed in 3 or More Subjects: Trainees with backlogs in three or more subjects will face a 'Semester Back', meaning they must repeat the entire semester.
Scrutiny Option: For students who believe their copies were evaluated incorrectly, the official scrutiny (re-evaluation) application window is currently active.
