UGC NET December 2026 notification with Full Schedule

According to the latest NTA public release, the UGC NET December 2026 dates are locked from December 14 to December 19, 2026. To avoid disruptions caused by local holidays or technical outages, the testing authority has additionally reserved December 20 and December 21, 2026, as buffer days.

While the master exam window is officially set, the NTA will release the exact subject-wise shift allocations and specific subject date sheets later this year alongside the formal information brochure on its designated website ugcnet.nta.nic.in

Expected Registration Timelines

With the exam dates locked for mid-December, the online registration process is projected to follow this timeline:

  • Online Application Release: Expected in the first week of October 2026

  • Form Submission Deadline: Anticipated to close by early November 2026

  • Application Mode: Exclusively online through the official NTA web portal

Exam Structure & Marking System

The December session will be conducted completely online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The testing layout remains divided into two papers taken in a single, continuous three-hour session without any scheduled break:

  • Paper 1 (General Aptitude): 50 questions assessing teaching ability, research skills, reasoning, and foundational data comprehension (100 marks).

  • Paper 2 (Core Subject): 100 domain-specific questions matching the candidate's post-graduation discipline (200 marks).

  • Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect selections, allowing students to attempt all questions safely.

Candidates are strongly advised to keep checking the official NTA website for the live release of the information bulletin.
