The IIT JAM 2026 examination, which will be conducted by IIT Bombay, is a national-level Computer-Based Test (CBT) taking place on February 15, 2026. The format of the exam is still the same as in the past years, with a total of 100 marks covering 60 questions within a period of three hours.
The JAM exam refers to the Joint Admission Test for Master's, a national-level entrance examination in India for students seeking admission to postgraduate science and technology programs. The exam serves as the main gateway for admission to M.Sc., Joint M.Sc., Ph.D., and M.Sc., Ph.D. Dual Degree and MS (Research) programs, with scores accepted by all IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
In addition, several other reputed institutions, such as NITs, IISERs, DIAT, and IIEST, also use JAM scores for postgraduate admissions through the Centralized Counselling for M.Sc. (CCMN) process.
