National Law University (NLU) Delhi is conducting the 1st edition of the National Essay Competition "Small Voices: Big Rights". This contest is brought together by the NLUD Chair on Justice for Children, UNICEF, and the Constitutional Law Club.

The "Small Voices: Big Rights" essay competition is organized by NLU Delhi, UNICEF, and the Constitutional Law Club to promote critical thinking, rigorous legal analysis, and a better understanding of the laws and procedures that affect the dispensing of justice for children in India. Essay Theme to Select

Participants can choose from themes related to juvenile justice, the intersection of privacy and protection under POCSO, and access to justice for children.

Eligibility and Submission Date

The competition is Open to all Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law students enrolled in any recognized university in India. The other details are as follows:

  • Submission Deadline: March 1, 2026.

  • Results Declaration: March 15, 2026.

  • Registration Fee: None.

  • Language: English

Submission Guidelines

Essays must follow the official format and originality standards to be considered for evaluation.

  • The essay length must be between 1,500 and 2,000 words, excluding footnotes.

  • The document must use Garamond font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing and justified alignment.

  • All references must follow the OSCOLA 4th Edition citation style.

  • The similarity index must be below 20 percent.

  • Use of Generative AI tools will result in disqualification.

  • Co-authorship is strictly not permitted.

Awards and Recognition

NLUD J4C will grant and publish formal recognition of excellent submissions.

  • The first prize winner will be given a Certificate of Merit and mentioned in the NLUD J4C Newsletter.

  • The second-best entry shall get a Certificate of Merit and its posting on the NLUD J4C Online Opinion Page.

  • The top 10 submissions will all be granted Certificates of Merit.
