New Delhi: Online applications have been invited by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from private candidates for the Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026. The new biannual exam policy implemented by the board will now allow students to take a second shot at achieving higher marks and alleviate stress from an annual exam system.
The portal is open to several types of private students, like those appearing for improvement or a compartment or who failed to take the first session.
Candidates appearing as private candidates for the 2nd Board Exam need to fall into one of the categories:
1. Improvement candidates: A student appeared for the 1st session of board exams 2026 but wants to improve his/her marks in one or more subjects.
2. Compartment candidates: Candidates who are in a compartment after the 1st session of Board Exams 2026.
3. Failed candidates: Those who failed in the 10th board exam before 2025.
4. Extra subject candidate: For appearing as a private candidate in one extra subject apart from those which were already offered during the school course.
It is recommended to candidates to fill out their forms on or before the given deadline in order to avoid the late fee charge.
