The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has deferred the 72nd Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination 2026 for the second time, leaving lakhs of state civil services aspirants waiting for a revised timeline.

The preliminary test was most recently scheduled to take place on October 25, 2026. However, an official notification released by the commission on October 12, 2026, confirmed that the highly anticipated civil services screening test has been deferred until further notice due to "unavoidable reasons".

This marks the second major delay for this recruitment cycle; the examination was originally slated to be conducted on July 25, 2026, before being rescheduled to October.

BPSC 72nd CCE Exam Postponed: What Candidates Need to Know

  • Official Revised Date: The commission has not yet announced a new date for the preliminary exam. BPSC stated via social media and its portal that a fresh examination schedule will be issued separately at a later stage.

  • Total Vacancies: The BPSC Integrated 72nd CCE recruitment drive intends to fill 1,189 vacancies across various administrative, police, and revenue departments within the Bihar government.

  • Admit Card Status: New BPSC 72nd prelims admit cards will only be generated once the commission locks in the revised calendar.

Aspirants are strongly urged to continue their preparation and ignore unverified third-party rumors regarding tentative dates. Official announcements regarding the revised exam schedule will be posted directly on the commission's portal at bpsc.bihar.gov.in.
