The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has announced a major recruitment drive for 2026 for 929 vacancies. The positions are for the Assistant Statistical Officer (ASO) and Assistant Research Officer (ARO) posts. The details are available on the official UPSSSC website.

Highlights of UPSSSC ASO/ARO Recruitment 2026 

The notification (Advt No. 05-Exam/2026), released on March 20, opens a significant opportunity for postgraduates in specialised fields seeking government positions in Uttar Pradesh. The application window is scheduled to open next month, on April 21, 2026 till May 11, 2026. The correction window will close on May 18, 2026.  Eligible candidates can apply through the official UPSSSC portal.

• Mandatory Eligibility:

The only candidates who appeared for the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025 and possess a valid scorecard are eligible to apply for these mains positions.

• Educational Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a Postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Commerce, or Economics. Additionally, a recognised computer diploma (such as 'O' Level from NIELIT) or an equivalent certification is mandatory for final selection.

• Vacancy Breakup & Pay Scale

• Assistant Statistical Officer (ASO): 916 Posts

• Assistant Research Officer (ARO): 13 Posts

• The selected officers will be placed in Pay Level-6 (INR 35,400 - INR 1,12,400), making it one of the most sought-after Group 'C' technical cadres in the state.

Selection Process

The selection process will involve shortlisting candidates based on their PET 2025 scores, followed by a Main Written Examination. Successful candidates in the written round will then proceed to Document Verification.

The Commission has advised aspirants to ensure their mobile numbers and emails are updated on the PET registration portal to receive timely updates regarding the exam schedule.
