Telangana Intermediate Admissions 2026: Date Extended to August 15

The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has extended the last date for phase-one admissions into first-year intermediate courses for the 2026-2027 academic session. Students now have until August 15, 2026, to secure their seats across all government, private, aided, and residential junior colleges in Telangana.

The decision comes as a major relief for thousands of Class 10 graduates who missed earlier cut-offs. TGBIE officials confirmed that this extension aims to ensure no deserving student is left out of the senior secondary education cycle.

Strict Merit Baseline and Seat Transparency

Admissions will continue strictly on a merit basis using cumulative grade point averages (CGPA) and marks obtained in the SSC or equivalent public examinations. The board has barred junior colleges from conducting any form of independent entrance tests.

To maintain transparency, TGBIE has ordered all college principals to prominently display the number of sanctioned seats and current daily vacancies on their notice boards.

Mandatory Anti-Drug Pledge and Aadhaar Verification

In a strict policy shift for the 2026 academic year, both students and parents must sign a mandatory anti-drug pledge during enrolment. Furthermore, colleges are instructed to strictly verify student Aadhaar cards and original certificates to curb fraudulent or multiple parallel admissions.

Category-Wise Seat Reservations

The ongoing allocation process strictly adheres to state-mandated reservation quotas:

• Backward Classes (BC): 29%

• Scheduled Castes (SC): 15%

• Scheduled Tribes (ST): 10%

• Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10%

• Physically Handicapped, NCC, Sports: Specific sub-quotas apply.

• Women's Quota: A 33.33% horizontal reservation is guaranteed for female students across all categories.
