NIC Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for Scientist C/D Vacancies

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) announces the NIC Recruitment 2026 for 153 Group ‘A’ Gazetted positions, specifically for Scientist C (141 posts) and Scientist D (12 posts). Applications for these Central Government positions under MeitY are open from April 8 to April 30, 2026, via the official portal of NIC.

The application window to apply for the posts is already open from 8th April to 30th April 2026 (5:30 PM).

  • Roles

    • Scientist C (Pay Level 11, INR 67.7k - INR 2.08L)

    • Scientist D (Pay Level 12, INR 78.8k-INR 2.09L).

  • Selection: Based on a screening test, academic evaluation, and interview.

National Informatics Centre Jobs Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a B.E./B.Tech, M.Sc, MCA, M.E./M.Tech, or M.Phil in relevant fields such as Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or Physics.

  • Experience (as of Nov 21, 2022):

    • Scientist C: Minimum 4 years of relevant research/development experience.

    • Scientist D: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience; a PhD is desirable.

  • Age Limit (as of Nov 21, 2022):

    • Scientist C: Maximum 35 years.

    • Scientist D: Maximum 40 years

  • Fees:

    • General/OBC/EWS: INR 800 per post.

    • SC/ST/PwBD/Women: Nil (Exempted)

The NIC Recruitment 2026 selection process is a rigorous three-stage evaluation designed to identify the most qualified technical experts for Scientist C and Scientist D roles. To successfully clear the NIC Scientist entrance exam, candidates must first pass a- 

  • Screening Test: a qualifying online MCQ assessment featuring 150 questions across Reasoning, Mathematics, English, and Aptitude. 

  • Shortlisted applicants then undergo an intensive Evaluation of Academic Records, where professional achievements, experience, and research publications are scored out of 120 marks.

  • The final stage is a Personal Interview worth 30 marks, typically held in Delhi, which determines the final merit list for these prestigious government scientific positions.
