The Government of India has made some changes for this academic session i. e 2026-27 in the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The changes are planned with a focus on eliminating duplicate applications and of leakage proof delivery. The government of India has introduced many high tech updated that every student must follow.
1. What is the new NSP OTR?
The one-time registration (OTR) is a single 14-digit ID allocated to each student. Life Time Registration. It's an identification number, unique to you, which stays from school life till the end of your doctoral studies. Link to Aadhaar. You can always change schools and colleges without requiring a new profile to be created. The OTR just updates itself from Aadhaar. No Repetitions. Details like your name, DOB, and gender get fetched directly from Aadhaar.

Simply filling a form won't do the work anymore; you need to go through all of these steps:
Download the required Apps: You are required to download two apps, namely NSP OTR App and AadhaarFaceRD App, from the Play Store.
Face Authentication: The portal uses the "Face-Auth" feature. You would be asked to face your webcam for the authentication of your identity. In this way, your scholarship won't be used by a fraudster.
Generate OTR ID: Once you've been successfully authenticated by Aadhaar and face, you'll be provided with a 14-digit OTR ID through SMS.
Enter academic information: After you've obtained an OTR ID, you can use it for logging in to the scholarships.gov.in and select the required scheme. Then upload your marksheet and income certificate.
