National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is designed in a way to ensure equitable and inclusive quality education and set lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030. After 5 years of implementation, there are visible gains, and the implementation in facilitating students comes from the backward background of society, including the special needs students.
The NEP 2020 implemented a focus on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), Digital and Technological Integration, Enhanced Inclusivity and Enrolment, and Increased Flexibility in Higher Education.
The NEP 2020 implementation has fostered a positive impact on the Indian education system.
Emphasis on Equity and Quality Education for all
Promotes the Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Improves Teacher Training for increasing empathy for the disabled or special students
Secures legal and human rights for students.
Lack of Infrastructure and Resources for the disabled and special students
Lack of well-trained teachers, unable to give support to special needs students.
Difficulty in implementing methods in rural area schools
Low admission rate for marginalized groups
After 5 years of NEP 2020 implementation, significant changes have happened positively; however, more needs to be done. But surely, the development of infrastructure, awareness of citizens, and trained teachers will change the scenario in the near future.
