In a major push toward youth empowerment and regional integration, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena launched the Youth Skill Training Programme for Ladakhi Youth in Delhi.
The residential initiative, designed to bridge the gap between remote regions and modern industry demands, officially commenced with its inaugural batch being flagged off from Leh to New Delhi.
The program aims to enhance employability and provide sustainable livelihood pathways through specialised vocational training and assured job placements. The first batch comprises 36 shortlisted candidates, carefully selected from all seven districts of the Ladakh Union Territory. Highlighting a strong focus on gender inclusion, the group features an overwhelming majority of female trainees, comprising 34 girls and 2 boys. For a significant number of these candidates, this program marks their very first journey outside Ladakh.
The selected youth will undergo a comprehensive two- to three-month residential training programme at the renowned GMR Varalakshmi Centre for Empowerment & Livelihoods (CEL) in New Delhi.
The curriculum is structured to equip the candidates with market-oriented, practical skills that align directly with current requirements in organised industry sectors. Upon successful completion of the course, the program guarantees direct placement assistance to ensure a smooth transition into the professional workforce.
This initiative aligns with national objectives to foster self-reliance among youth in remote territories, transforming Ladakh’s human capital into a skilled and empowered workforce.
