The IIT JAM 2027 Registration process has officially started for candidates planning to pursue postgraduate programmes at IITs and other participating institutes. The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) opened the online application portal on September 11, 2026.
Eligible candidates can complete the IIT JAM 2027 Registration online until October 12, 2026 through the official website, jam.iitkgp.ac.in.
The examination will be conducted for admission to postgraduate programmes offered by 23 IITs and other participating institutes.
Registration Begins: September 11, 2026
Last Date to Apply: October 12, 2026
Admit Card Release: January 5, 2027
IIT JAM 2027 Exam Date: February 14, 2027
Result Declaration: March 18, 2027
Candidates can follow these steps to complete the application process:
Register Online: Visit the official IIT JAM website and register on the JOAPS portal using your email ID and mobile number.
Fill in the Application Form: Log in with your credentials and enter your personal, academic and communication details.
Select Test Papers: Choose up to two test papers and select up to three preferred examination cities.
Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature and applicable category certificates.
Pay the Application Fee: Complete the online fee payment and download the confirmation page for future reference.
The IIT JAM 2027 examination will be a 3-hour Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of 60 questions carrying 100 marks. The paper will have three sections:
Section A: MCQ: 30 Multiple Choice Questions. Negative marking applies. For 1-mark questions, one-third of the marks are deducted for an incorrect answer, while two-thirds of the marks are deducted for an incorrect 2-mark answer.
Section B: MSQ: 10 Multiple Select Questions. There is no negative marking or partial credit.
Section C: NAT: 20 Numerical Answer Type questions. There is no negative marking.
