Indira Gandhi National Open University has introduced a new BSc in Fabric and Apparel Design (BScFFAD) for the January 2026 admission cycle. The university aligned this program as per NEP 2020, as a Four-year Undergraduate Program (FYUP). Aspirants can visit the official IGNOU Admission Portal for more details.
The course has certification for each successful year of clearance:
1 Year: Undergraduate Certificate in Fabric and Apparel Design.
2 Years: Undergraduate Diploma in Fabric and Apparel Design.
3 Years: Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Fabric and Apparel Design (120 credits).
4 Years: Bachelor’s Degree with Honours
Eligibility: Candidates must complete 10+2 with Science.
Medium of Instruction: The university teaches the program in English.
Fee Structure: Students pay Rs.11,000 per year, excluding registration and development charges.
Mode of Study: IGNOU offers the program through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) via the School of Continuing Education (SOCE).
The program combines textile science with fashion design and garment construction to help students develop practical skills and creative abilities.
The program prepares students to work as textile designers, fabric designers, and apparel designers, and pattern makers in design and production roles. Except for these, retail entrepreneurship, fashion, and visual merchandising are a good options to opt for a successful passout.
