The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has once again extended the submission deadline for assignments related to the June 2026 Term End Examinations (TEE), which is a huge relief to students across the country. According to the latest notification, learners will be able to submit their assignments till May 31, 2026.
The extended deadline is for students enrolled in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online modes of education programmes. Besides, it also covers the specific programmes such as GOAL (Going Online as Leaders) and EVBB (Experiential Learning in Value-Based Education). Furthermore, IGNOU has emphasised that assignments can be submitted either as a hard copy or a soft copy, as per the instructions issued by the respective study centres or programme coordinators.
This is a confirmation step from the competent authority's side. The fact that this is another extension shows that the university is trying to help students by giving them more time in case they are having difficulties with deadlines. Also, many IGNOU students are working while studying so these types of extensions are really important and give them the necessary flexibility.
Assignments are a very important part of the IGNOU assessment system. To be allowed to take the Term End Examinations, students need to have their assignments accepted. In other words, if they do not submit assignments, then they may be denied permission to appear for the exams even if they fulfil other formalities.
Students, on the other hand, are strongly advised to avoid delays and finish the submission of their assignments well in advance of the revised deadline. Also, it is advisable to strictly adhere to the submission instructions given by the regional centres to avoid assignment rejection on technical grounds.
IGNOU has asked the students to keep checking their official website for updates and also keep their communication channels open with their study centres for any help they may require. Given that the new deadline is still the end of May, students have a last chance to make sure they comply and therefore be eligible for the June 2026 TEE.
