The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) has opened online applications for its prestigious national internship programme for the year 2026. The initiative aims to provide undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students with hands-on experience in policy formulation and tribal welfare administration. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of INR 15,000 during their tenure.

The online registration window opened on June 3, 2026, and will close strictly at 5:00 PM on June 18, 2026. Eligible students must submit their applications via the official NCSTGRAMS portal. The one-month internship is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-July 2026.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Academic Profile: Open to students in their second year of graduation and above, postgraduates, and research scholars.

  • Disciplines: Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Science, Commerce, or Arts.

  • Academic Record: A minimum of 60% marks in the last qualifying examination is mandatory.

  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old, with standard age relaxations applicable for reserved categories.

Strict Anti-AI Rules for SOP

NCST has introduced strict guidelines regarding the selection process, which hinges on academic performance and a mandatory Statement of Purpose (SOP). Officials have explicitly warned that any application featuring AI-generated content or plagiarism in the SOP will face immediate rejection.

The commission will onboard approximately 10 interns for this cycle, placing them at either the New Delhi headquarters or regional offices across India. A minimum of 90% attendance and a final project report are required to successfully claim the completion certificate and stipend.
