The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has extended the last date for GATE 2027 application scrutiny and defect rectification to November 3, 2026. Candidates who registered for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering must log in to the official GOAPS portal immediately to check their status and correct any flagged discrepancies to avoid rejection.
Registered applicants can verify their application status by visiting the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in. Upon logging in with their enrollment ID and password, candidates will see one of three statuses:
Accepted: No further action is required.
Under Scrutiny: The application is still being verified by zonal IITs.
Defective: Discrepancies have been found in the uploaded documents or details.
If your application status shows "Defective," follow these steps to resolve the issue before the deadline expires tonight:
Go to the official website: gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
Log in using your GOAPS credentials.
Click on the "Check Application Status" tab to read the specific remarks from the scrutiny committee.
Correct the faulty information or re-upload clear copies of your photograph, signature, or category certificate.
Re-submit the form for final approval.
No additional fee is charged for rectifying defects flagged during the scrutiny phase. However, a separate data correction window will open later for candidate-initiated changes (such as changing exam cities or papers), which will require a modification fee.
The GATE 2027 examinations are scheduled to be held on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027.
