IIT Guwahati will conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 starting February 7. The exam will take place in two sessions on the 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th February. There will be computer-based test centres nationwide for the same. 

Those students should be careful with these instructions because they will have to go through a range of controls and checks to enter the examination hall. You must ensure that you have downloaded your admit card from the exam's official website and verified all the information contained in the permit letter. 

Only upon verification of documents will candidates be allowed into the examination room. 

GATE exam timetable and instructions on reporting

GATE 2026 will take place in two sessions. The morning session begins at 9:30 am and ends at 12:30 pm. The afternoon shift will occur between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Aspirants should refer to the admit card for the exact shift and examination centre information.

They must arrive at the examination centre one to one and a half hours before the exam begins. Biometric verification and document checking will be done before entry.

Things that you can't bring and what to do on the day of the examination

There is a strict ban on mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, notes, books or any electronic gadgets. Furthermore, bags and study materials should not enter the examination room.

However, rough sheets will be given out at the centre. First, they should fill out these sheets with their names and registration numbers.

Students are advised to wear loose, comfortable clothing and to follow all instructions from the invigilators. If they disobey the rules, they risk being disqualified.
