Delhi University PhD Admission 2026-27 has started for eligible graduates of the university’s Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). Under the NEP 2020 higher education framework, qualified students can apply for doctoral programmes directly after completing a four-year undergraduate degree, without pursuing a separate master’s degree.
The DU PhD registration 2026 began on August 27, 2026, while the last date to submit the online application is September 6, 2026. Candidates can register through the official DU PhD Portal.
The non-refundable registration fee is:
INR 250: General, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates
INR 100: SC, ST and PwBD candidates
The direct PhD after a 4-year graduation route is available specifically to students who have completed their four-year undergraduate programme from the University of Delhi or its affiliated colleges.
The minimum CGPA requirement is:
7.5 CGPA: UR, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates
7.0 CGPA: SC, ST and PwBD candidates
Delhi University will conduct its own admission evaluation for doctoral programmes. Candidates are also advised to qualify for national-level examinations such as UGC-NET or CSIR-NET. Such qualifications can provide access to fellowship and stipend opportunities during the PhD.
The DU PhD Admission 2026-27 process marks an important shift towards flexible doctoral pathways under NEP 2020.
