Delhi Schools Summer Vacation 2026 Declared; Special Classes for Classes 9, 10, 12

All government schools under the Directorate of Education, Delhi, will remain closed from 11 May to 30 June 2026 for summer holidays, according to a notification issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi. However, based on teacher availability, remedial classes will be conducted in schools from May 11 to May 23, 2026 for students of Classes 9, 10, and 12, the notification adds. 

The purpose of the remedial classes will be to provide supplementary coaching and enhance understanding of all major topics. The Delhi government has directed all government schools in Delhi to organise the remedial classes within school premises as per the feasibility and teacher strength.

Focus Subjects

As stated by the notification, focus should be on Science and Mathematics for Classes 9 and 10. The Head of School may, however, select some other subjects as per the requirement of the school on analysis of results and availability of the subject teachers. 

For class 12, remedial subjects may be selected by the Head of School as per the student's requirement. The government has also been ordered to give special focus to deserving students. 

Rules of remedial classes for students, teachers, and Parents

  1. The Head of School is to prepare a timetable for Remedial classes well in advance of summer vacation and submit it to the DDE Zone concerned.

  2. Students and parents should be informed using available channels of communication.

  3. Wearing the school uniform will be mandatory for the student.

  4. Students' attendance should be marked online.

  5. NOC from the parent should be taken for attending remedial classes.

  6. The teacher is to focus on students individually so that there is a positive improvement in each student.

  7. The library must be open for students for self-study and borrowing books.

  8. The Head of School is to ensure the availability of safe drinking water and basic facilities.

  9. A contract or guest teacher may be called for remedial classes.
