Roughly 25.3 lakh (2,530,436) candidates have signed up for the CBSE CTET February 2026 test, which is set to be held on February 8, 2026. This shows a considerable rise in registrations in comparison to the previous cycles in July 2024 (20.25 lakh) and December 2024 (16.72 lakh).

Exam Date: Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Mode: Offline, OMR-based (Pen and Paper).
Shifts:
Paper II (Classes 6–8): 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM.
Paper I (Classes 1–5): 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM.
Structure: 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) per paper with no negative marking.
Cities: Conducted across 132 cities in 20 different languages
Correction Window: Applications of registered candidates can be modified from December 23 to December 26, 2025.
Admit Card: Likely to be issued in the first week of February 2026, probably on February 6.
Results: Provisional expectation by the end of March 2026.

Mandatory for Teachers: CTET has been made compulsory for in-service teachers by the Supreme Court to retain them and promote them.
Lifetime Validity: The one-time qualification has now become a lifetime qualification, and hence, more candidates are attracted.
Low Pass Rates: Only a small number of students passed the most recent exam, which led to a large majority of students having to reappear.
Wider Eligibility: The new NCTE rules have no limit on the number of attempts, and hence, more degree holders are eligible to apply.
High Recruitment Demand: CTET is mandatory for recruitment in KVS, NVS, and a vast number of government schools.
