CBSE CTET 2026 Postpones: Registration Window Reopens Until September 1

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially postponed the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026. The national-level exam, originally scheduled for September 6, 2026, has been delayed following a Supreme Court directive.

In compliance with the court's judgment, the board has reopened the online application portal to grant serving teachers and missed candidates a final opportunity to register. The extended application window will remain open through September 1, 2026. 

Eligible candidates looking to apply must submit their completed forms on the official portal at ctet.nic.in before the portal closes tomorrow.

CBSE CTET 2026: Supreme Court Directive Prompts Delay

The decision to defer the exam stems from a Supreme Court ruling emphasizing that all serving teachers must be provided a reasonable opportunity to acquire mandatory TET qualifications. To accommodate these educators, CBSE temporarily paused its examination timeline to re-engineer the registration process.

CBSE clarified that candidates who successfully registered and paid their fees during the initial May-June application window do not need to reapply. All previously submitted applications remain fully valid for the upcoming cycle.

Next Steps and Expected Schedule

The revised dates for the CTET 2026 examination will be declared after the application window closes on Tuesday. Due to an expected influx of new applicants, board officials indicate the exam may be conducted over a span of two days to manage the increased candidate volume safely and efficiently.
