A medical college is being set up at the under-construction All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Majra in Rewari and the Union Health Ministry has already sanctioned 50 MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic session, Gurugram MP.
And Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh said on Monday. Singh, who cited a March 23 letter issued by an under-secretary in the Union health ministry, said with this sanction, the MBBs course will begin in AIIMS Rewari with 50 seats each year from the 2026-27 academic session. With the sanction, the institute will soon begin its medical course and OPD services, Singh said.
These announcements came after Singh said the advertisements for the appointment of administrative personnel had already been released. The process of selection for other posts is on. The institution will recruit 1,700-plus staff.
Singh explained that the Ministry of Finance needs to approve specific posts which will be delivered to them in the near future. The health secretary had already forwarded a proposal to the Department of Expenditure which requested approval to fill both technical and non-technical positions.
Singh stated that doctor appointments are essential so that AIIMS Rewari can begin its OPD services and current efforts focus on speeding up that process.
The AIIMS Rewari facility will operate as a 750-bed hospital which will provide OPD services while treating 1500 patients who will visit the hospital each day according to an official statement.
The facility will include a medical college with 100 student capacity and 25 super speciality departments and a nursing college. The design includes facilities such as private beds and trauma beds, and AYUSH beds, along with a night shelter and guest house and a 1000-seat auditorium and hostels and resident quarters.
Admission to the MBBS course will be done through the NEET UG examination, followed by centralized counselling conducted at the national level.
