KAMC was set up during 1990-91 at Coonoor, Nilgiris, Tamilnadu State, India, by Kothari Industrial Corporation Limited, by [KICL], Chennai, then a well diversified leading business house in South India belonging to Dr. D.C. Kothari Group.
The mission of KAMC is to contribute towards the Development, Modernisation and Futurisation of the Government and Agricultural Sectors by undertaking training, applied research and Consultancy activities related to the Techno-Commercial and Managerial problems within the Government and Agricultural Sectors.
KAMC has four major thrust areas namely, Management education, Executive training, Technical and Management Consultancy and Applied Research.
Appreciating the role of KAMC, the Government of India has, so far, since the year 1995, sponsored more than 1000 officials under the Technical Co-operation Scheme of the Colombo Plan to KAMC Courses from SEVENTEEN Countries, namely, Indonesia, Iran, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Philippines, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Lao PDR and Vietnam. In addition, the Tea Board / Authority / Tea Associations of Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malawi, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Sri Lankan Private Corporate Sectors have sponsored FIFTY candidates to KAMC courses so far.
The Commonwealth Secretariat, London sponsored, under the funding from the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation, 56 Senior Level participants, [31 from Bangladesh, 23 from Sri Lanka and 2 from Pakistan] participated in the programmes which was conducted by KAMC at Coonoor in the years 2001,2002,2005 and 2007.
Since the year 1995, the Ministry of Environment and forests, Government of India has entrusted in-service Training Courses for Training the Indian Forest Service officers in various aspects of Forestry Management. So far about 150 Indian Forest Service Officers of seniority from 1978 batch to 1995 batch have participated in such training courses.
