The CUET UG 2026 exam pattern will mirror that of 2025, showcasing a complete online CBT procedure, with a reduced number of total subjects, and candidates will have options to select up to five subjects. All the questions will be compulsory, and there will be no internal choices.

CUET UG 2026 Exam Pattern Overview

The exam is divided into three main sections: 

1. Section I (IA & IB): Languages

This section assesses language proficiency in Indian and optional languages.

  • Languages covered: 13 Indian & 20 optional

  • Total questions: 50 MCQs (compulsory)

  • Duration: 60 minutes

  • Marking: +5 for correct, −1 for incorrect

2. Section II: Domain-Specific Subjects

This section evaluates knowledge in the chosen domain subject.

  • Subjects available: 23 domain subjects

  • Total questions: 50 MCQs (compulsory)

  • Duration: 60 minutes

  • Marking: +5 for correct, −1 for incorrect

3. Section III: General Test

This section tests general aptitude and awareness skills.

  • Areas covered: General awareness, reasoning, aptitude

  • Total questions: 50 MCQs (compulsory)

  • Duration: 60 minutes

  • Marking: +5 for correct, −1 for incorrect

Major Changes and Other Information

  • Exam Mode: Only the Computer-Based Test (CBT) method was used.

  • Subject Selection: Up to 5 subjects can be chosen, with at least one language in it.

  • Syllabus: Class 12 NCERT curriculum for domain subjects as specified.

  • Question Type: Only Objective-type MCQs.

  • Removed Subjects: Specific domain subjects and foreign languages were removed; related admission through the General Test.

  • Flexibility: Domain subjects can be selected across streams based on university requirements.
