The National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited applications for the Graduate Aptitude Test – Biotechnology (GAT-B) and the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2026. Those wishing to apply can visit the official website exams.nta.nic.in and fill out the form online.
The Graduate Aptitude Test – Biotechnology (GAT-B) and Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) are conducted for admissions to postgraduate biotechnology programmes supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.
The Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) is also conducted to award the DBT-Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) for biotechnology research. According to the official notice, the online application forms will be accepted from March 1, 2026, until April 9, 2026, until 5:00 PM.
Candidates will have the opportunity to deposit application fees until April 9, 2026 by 11:50 PM. The application correction window will open from April 11 to April 13, 2026 and will allow candidates to edit some of the fields in their application forms.
GAT-B & BET 2026 exams will be conducted on April 17, 2026 in Computer-Based Test mode and the question paper will be available in English. The exam duration is 180 minutes (3 hours).
GAT-B will be conducted from 9 AM to 12 PM whereas BET will be held from 3 PM to 6 PM.
For General, Other Backwards Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) and Economically Weaker Sections, the application fee is 1300 per test. For those appearing for GAT-B and BET, each one needs to pay 2600.
For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Persons with Disabilities candidates' fee is 650 for each test and for the two tests together 1300.
Candidates can fill out only one application form. The commission explicitly mentioned that more than one application from the same candidate would be rejected. The application can be submitted only through online mode.
Candidates must make sure to fill out the form by reading all the instructions thoroughly.
