The Scholarship Schemes for SC, ST, and OBC for the academic year 2025-26 have been made available via both the central National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and state government portals. These initiatives act as a financial aid to students coming from disadvantaged social and economic backgrounds for education from school to post-graduation.

Post-Matric Scholarship – Key Details

  • Beneficiaries: Students from SC, ST, and OBC categories (Class 1 to Post Graduation)

  • Application Mode: Online

  • Official Websites: National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and respective State Scholarship Portals

  • Application Period: Usually open from October to November/December 2025 (deadlines closed as of December 16, 2025)

  • Benefits: Tuition fee reimbursement, maintenance allowance, book grants, and other educational expenses

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Caste: A valid caste certificate for SC, ST, or OBC is a must.

  • Education: One has to be studying in a government-recognised school or college.

  • Income: The combined annual income of the family should not surpass the specified limits. The limits are as follows:

  • SC/ST Students: Maximum of ?2.5 Lakh per annum.

  • OBC Students: Maximum of ?1 lakh to ?1.5 lakh per annum (depending on the state and the scheme).

  • Exclusivity: If the applicant has already received a scholarship from the central government for the same course, they cannot apply for this scheme.

Documents Required

Applicants must keep scanned copies of the following documents ready for online upload: 

  • Aadhaar Card (linked to bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer - DBT).

  • Caste Certificate (issued by a competent authority).

  • Income Certificate of the family.

  • Domicile Certificate.

  • Previous Year's Mark Sheet.

  • Bonafide Certificate from the institution.

  • Bank Account Passbook.

  • Passport-size Photograph

Online Application Process 

  • Submit your application via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) or the appropriate state portal.

  • Register once (OTR) with Aadhaar, mobile number, and email. 

  • After logging in, fill out the application and upload the documents that are needed.

  • After that, the application is submitted, and a printout is kept for the records.

  • Check the application status online after the institutional and state verification
