In the 2025 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has replaced Saveetha University as the top institution. AIIMS Delhi is now considered the top dental college in India. India Rankings 2025 also places AIIMS at the top in the medical field.
On September 4th, the Ministry of Education released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, which includes rankings across 17 categories, such as the top dental schools in India.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, took the top spot, while Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences in Chennai came in second. The Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences got third place, and Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth ranked fourth.
AIIMS Delhi's rise to first place represents a significant shift, as it has surpassed Saveetha University. AIIMS also received the highest ranking in the medical category of the India Rankings 2025.

Last year, the Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences led the NIRF dental rankings. The Manipal College of Dental Sciences or Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, and the King George's Medical University all came next
Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai also held first place in 2023 and 2022. Before that, it was third in 2021 and fourth in 2020 for dentistry.
