NHPC Limited launched its Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) 2026, inviting applications for the position of Trainee Engineer across Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines. The drive specifically targets candidates from SC, ST, OBC (NCL), and PwBD categories to fill approximately 72 to 81 vacancies.

In a move to ensure high technical standards, NHPC has confirmed that selection will be based on valid scores from GATE 2024 or GATE 2025. The recruitment process will carry a heavy weightage of 75% for GATE marks, followed by a Group Discussion (5%) and a Personal Interview (20%).

Candidates must hold a full-time regular B.E./B. Tech or B.Sc. (Engineering) degree from an AICTE-recognised institution with a minimum of 60% marks (relaxed to 50% for SC/ST/PwBD). The upper age limit is set at 30 years, with standard government relaxations for reserved categories.
Selected candidates will be placed in the E-2 Grade (IDA pay scale of INR 50,000-INR 1,60,000). The total Cost to Company (CTC) is estimated between INR 15 Lakhs and INR 16 Lakhs per annum, making it one of the most competitive entry-level packages in the public sector.
