The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially revised the NEET UG 2026 Round 1 counselling schedule, extending the registration deadline and shifting the crucial choice locking date to August 17, 2026.
According to the urgent notice released on the official MCC Website, the decision to alter the timeline was taken to accommodate representations from states regarding internal institutional quotas and to allow medical aspirants more time to finalise their college preferences. Eligible students can access the updated tracking tools and complete their submissions via the central portal.

The revised schedule introduces a major relief for candidates seeking admission under the Delhi University (DU) and Indraprastha University (IPU) internal quotas.
Aspirants who accidentally selected the All India Quota (AIQ) but are eligible for institutional seats at premier colleges like VMMC, ABVIMS, RML, and LHMC can now rectify their forms. Candidates must use the 'Registration Unlocking' tool on the portal to update their quota selection before the August 15 deadline.
Automatic Locking: If a candidate fails to manually lock their choices by 6:00 PM on August 17, the system will automatically lock the preferences in their last saved order.
No Modifications: Once locked, choices cannot be modified, deleted, or reordered under any circumstances.
Seat Matrix: Over 31,000 MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc Nursing seats across AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, and Deemed Universities are being allocated in this round.
