The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially revised the NEET UG 2026 Round 1 counselling schedule, extending the registration deadline and shifting the crucial choice locking date to August 17, 2026.

According to the urgent notice released on the official MCC Website, the decision to alter the timeline was taken to accommodate representations from states regarding internal institutional quotas and to allow medical aspirants more time to finalise their college preferences. Eligible students can access the updated tracking tools and complete their submissions via the central portal.

Candidates must use the 'Registration Unlocking' tool on the portal to update their quota selection before the August 15 deadline.

Important Choice Locking Rules

  • Automatic Locking: If a candidate fails to manually lock their choices by 6:00 PM on August 17, the system will automatically lock the preferences in their last saved order.

  • No Modifications: Once locked, choices cannot be modified, deleted, or reordered under any circumstances.

  • Seat Matrix: Over 31,000 MBBS, BDS, and B.Sc Nursing seats across AIIMS, JIPMER, Central Universities, and Deemed Universities are being allocated in this round.
