The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has announced important updates to the GATE 2027 schedule. Aspiring candidates looking to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering can now access the extended registration timeline, critical application dates, and mandatory new verification rules via the official GATE 2027 website.
According to the official notification from IIT Madras, the GATE 2027 registration deadlines have been pushed back to allow students more time to complete their applications.

IIT Madras has introduced a major procedural change for the GATE 2027 application form submission. All Indian national candidates are now required to register using their verified DigiLocker account through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).
Why DigiLocker is Required:
Instant Profile Sync: Automatically syncs your legal name, date of birth, photo, and identity numbers.
Error Prevention: Eliminates spelling mistakes and discrepancies in candidate credentials.
Security: Secures the enrolment process against duplicate applications.
Candidates are strongly advised to create, update, and verify their profiles on the official DigiLocker Platform before the application portal opens on August 27, 2026.
Beyond the revised dates, the GATE 2027 syllabus and paper matrix feature major changes:
New 30th Paper Added: A brand new paper on Robotics and Automation (RA) has been officially introduced to the curriculum.
Syllabus Changes: Core engineering disciplines feature revised topic weights. Download the updated syllabus PDFs directly from the IIT Madras GATE 2027 website.
Two-Paper Rule: Candidates may opt for two papers, provided they select an approved academic combination from the official structural matrix.
