IIM Amritsar announced the selection criteria to be considered for the MBA batch of 2026-28. The entire procedure is split into two key phases: the first one is the initial shortlisting for the Personal Interview (PI), followed by the second, the final selection.
To be shortlisted for a Personal Interview, candidates must fulfill the prescribed sectional and overall CAT 2025 sectional percentile requirements. For more details, applicants can visit the IIM Amritsar Admissions portal.

After qualifying for CAT 2025, the Final list considers these criteria to secure a seat. This is known as the Pre-PI Score board.
CAT 2025 Score: 50%
Work Experience: 15%
Class 10th Marks: 10%
Class 12th Marks: 10%
Gender Diversity: 10%
Graduation Score: 5% (Based on a scale of 0–5; >90% earns 5 points)
The Post-PI Score is calculated as follows.
Personal Interview (PI): 70%
Work Experience: 10%
Gender Diversity: 10%
Academic Diversity: 10%
Final Merit List Calculation: The final aggregate score used for admission offers is calculated using the formula: Final Score = (0.7 × Pre-PI Score) + (0.3 × Post-PI Score)
PI Shortlist Release: Expected in January 2026 after CAT results are announced.
Registration: Shortlisted candidates are required to complete the online application on the IIM Amritsar Admissions portal in January 2026.
Admission Offers: Final admission offers are likely to be issued by April 2026.
For the MBA batch 2026‑28, IIM Amritsar has set the qualifying CAT 2025 cut‑off at 90 percentile overall for General category candidates to be eligible for the Personal Interview (PI) shortlisting stage. Category‑wise minimum percentiles also include sectional thresholds (e.g., QA ~80, DILR ~75, VARC ~80 for General) to qualify for PI shortlisting.
