IIM Ahmedabad MBA Admission Policy 2027: New Selection Criteria

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has announced an overhaul of its entry requirements. Under the updated IIM Ahmedabad MBA admission policy 2027, the institute will use the CAT 2026 total percentile instead of scaled raw scores to select candidates for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.

The Phase 1 shortlisting process will now combine test results and past achievements into a unified Composite Score (CS) using a specific weight distribution:

  • 65% Weightage: Awarded to the applicant's CAT total percentile.

  • 35% Weightage: Awarded to the Application Rating (AR), which tracks Class 10th, 12th, and graduation marks, alongside work experience and gender diversity.

To ensure equity across diverse academic fields, the composite scores will be normalized based on the candidate's specific undergraduate stream.

For final seat allocation, the Final Composite Score (FCS) will prioritize post-exam performance: Personal Interview (50%), Normalised Composite Score (40%), and Analytical Writing Test (10%). While the baseline eligibility for General category candidates requires a 95 overall percentile, the actual call cut-offs remain significantly higher due to profile tracking.
