IIM Ahmedabad Founded A School of Al; Funded by an IIMA Alumna

On January 29, 2026, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) announced the establishment of the Krishnamurthy Tandon School of Artificial Intelligence, supported by an INR 100 crore fund by its own alumna. Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon has been an IIMA alumna of class 1975. Her husband, Ranjan Tandon. Chandrika, a Grammy-nominated musician and former McKinsey partner, also funded the NYU Tandon School of Engineering in  October 2015.

The school is designed to be a cutting-edge institution within a management school, focusing on the combination of technology, management, and public impact.

The institution will focus on application-led, case-based research to solve complex challenges in sectors like healthcare, education, governance, and supply chain with global Integration. The establishment aims to position India as a global AI superpower by attracting international faculty and fostering cross-sector partnerships.

The Union Education Minister officially inaugurated the initiative.
