Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has publicly declared the start of the January 2026 admission cycle for its Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programs.
The starting date for new admission is December 16, 2025.
The final date for new admission is January 31, 2026.
The beginning date for re-registration is December 1, 2025 (for current students).
The final date for re-registration is January 15, 2026.
Candidates must use the appropriate portal based on their chosen mode of study:
ODL Programmes: IGNOU Admission (Samarth).
Online Programmes: IGNOU Online Portal (IOP).
Re-registration: IGNOU Re-registration Portal.
During registration for the January 2026 cycle, students are required to generate the following IDs:
APAAR ID/ABC ID: Compulsory for all new admissions.
DEB ID: Required for admission to ODL and online courses and created through the UGC-DEB Portal.
UG courses: Must have a 10+2 certificate from a recognised board.
PG courses: Must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
Registration fee: ?300 (non-refundable) to be paid at the time of admission.
Fee exemption: SC/ST students may have their fees reduced according to university regulations.
Applicants should have scanned copies (less than 100 KB - 200 KB) of:
Photograph and Signature.
Age proof and educational qualification certificates.
Category certificate (if applicable) for fee concessions
The following are the accepted payment modes for the admission process.
UPI: Consists of BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe, and several other UPI-enabled applications.
Debit Cards: Accepts cards from Visa, Master, and Rupay.
Credit Cards: Accepts Visa and Master Cards.
Net Banking: Offered by a majority of Indian banks.
