Delhi University will begin its academic session 2025-26 from August 1 which is a bit earlier than last year. For those newly admitted to undergraduate and postgraduate programs classes will start on the same day.
This year, the session is starting nearly a month earlier than in 2024, providing students a head start in their academic journey. Freshers who have successfully secured their admissions can finally look forward to joining the university as classes will commence on August 1.
The classes will start for the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters from August 1, with academic session and classroom teaching beginning simultaneously. Earlier, before the introduction of CUET-UG, the DU academic session began on July 20. However, last year the session started later in August
DU University has released the academic calendar for the 2025-26 session for undergraduate and postgraduate students. According to the Registrar, Vikas Gupta classes will begin on August 1, 2025.
The autumn break is coming up from October 19 to 26, and practical exams will start on November 27. As for the theory exams, they’re set to start on December 10, 2025.
After the exam winter vacation will take place from December 28, 2025, to January 1, 2026.
Delhi University has announced that the second semester for undergraduate and postgraduate students, including those in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th semesters will start on January 2, 2026. First-year students will also join in on this date for their second semester.
There’s a mid-semester break set for March 1 to March 8 with classes resuming on March 9. Students can look forward to preparatory leave beginning on April 30, 2026 which is also when practical exams will commence.
