The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially postponed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2026 examination Official CTET Portal. Originally scheduled to take place on September 6, 2026, the 22nd edition of the national-level teacher eligibility test will now be conducted on December 12 and 13, 2026.
The decision to delay the exam comes in the wake of a recent Supreme Court directive, which prompted the board to reopen its online registration portal between August 25 and September 1, 2026.
This extension was granted to accommodate a fresh pool of qualified teaching aspirants, ensuring a fair opportunity for all eligible candidates. The CBSE clarified that applicants who successfully submitted their forms during the initial window do not need to register again.
The examination will transition smoothly into its new timeline, following a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format across pre-designated regional centers CBSE Main Website.

With the exam pushed by three months, candidates have received additional time to streamline their preparation for Paper I and Paper II. The board advises all registered aspirants to avoid relying on unverified schedules and instead monitor notifications exclusively through the official CTET Portal.
The direct links to download the city allotment slips and final hall tickets will be activated on the homepage closer to the December dates.
