The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released the application form for the much, awaited Sub, Inspector (SI) recruitment drive. From today, January 27, 2026, regular candidates can send the application for 78 SI posts to the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department of the state.
The application will be available on the official portal of the commission, bpssc.bih.nic.Until February 27, 2026. The recruitment, popularly known as Bihar Daroga Bharti 2026, has brought a challenging physical efficiency test, including a timed 1.6 km (one mile) run, as a main qualifying stage.
The eligible candidates should have a university degree in any field. The age limit differs among categories and is determined as of August 1, 2025. The general category men have an age range of 20 to 37 years, while women of the same category can apply up to 40 years. More lenient upper age limits apply to Backwards Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes.
The mode of selection will be through a three-stage process of a Preliminary Examination, a Main Written Examination, and a compulsory Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
This recruitment is largely based on physical strength, which is why a major part of the recruitment process has been devoted to physical standards. Besides height and chest measurement criteria, the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is the major deciding factor where male candidates are required to run one mile (approximately 1.6 km) within 6 minutes and 30 seconds. Whereas the female candidates have a target of a 1 km run in 6 minutes. Additional tests are the high jump, long jump, and shot put.
