The Union Ministry of Education has officially operationalized the mandatory BEd PRT teacher bridge course 2026. Professionally structured as a six-month Certificate in Primary Teacher Education (PTE), this program bridges the pedagogical gap between a standard Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree and foundational elementary schooling.
The launch of the BEd PRT teacher bridge course 2026 directly fulfills the Supreme Court’s April 2024 judgment (Devesh Sharma Vs. Union of India and Ors.).
The apex court directed the central government to establish a legal, one-time protection framework for already employed primary teachers who lack a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).
Conducted entirely via Open and Distance Learning (ODL), the training features a rigorous mix of text-based learning and practical workshops, including 10 days of online contact classes alongside 20 days of school-based internship experience.
Registration for the BEd PRT teacher bridge course 2026 is strictly restricted to in-service primary teachers with a B.Ed. degree who secured their appointments between June 28, 2018, and August 11, 2023 (the window under the relaxed NCTE Gazette notification).
Education authorities emphasize that enrolled candidates must complete the course within the strict prescribed timeline, or their current appointments will be rendered invalid. This bridge certification is solely an employment-continuity route; it cannot be utilized as an eligibility criterion to apply for fresh primary teaching positions.
Eligible primary teachers can check specific admissions instructions, verify court-order criteria, and submit required documents online through the official NIOS Bridge Course Portal.
